弊社gTLDレジストラより.orgドメイン名について以下の通知がございましたので、お知らせ申し上げます。

昨年12月末、.ORGのレジストリであるPublic Interest Registry (PIR)が、「.ORG国際化ドメイン名を2004年2月1日にレジストリデータベースから一斉に抹消する」との方針を打ち出していましたが、この告知に対し日本国内レジストラおよびリセラーなどによるPIRに対する抗議行動の結果、1月14日にPIRより「今回の.ORG国際化ドメイン名の抹消を撤回する」旨の発表がございました。

登録様におかれましては大変ご心配をお掛け致しましたが、2004年2月１日に予定されていたPIRによる.ORGの国際化ドメイン名の一斉抹消は行われないことになりました。

1. PIR to maintain .org IDN Registrations

On 23 December 2003, PIR, the registry operator for .org, announced
their intention to delete all IDN registration under .org as of
1 February 2004. We escalated our disagreement with this decision to
PIR's management. On 14 January 2004 they announced that they will
maintain the legacy .org RACE encoded IDNs in the data base until
puny code equivalents are available. We applauded PIR for their
willingness to listen to their customers on this matter. In order
for the IDN names to conform to the 'thick registry' operations of
PIR, additional registration data will be provided to PIR.
